Maternal Health Awareness Day: Prioritizing Maternal Health for a Stronger Future
Share
Today, we recognize Maternal Health Awareness Day. This day is an opportunity to recommit to the vision of a world where no woman dies from preventable complications of pregnancy and childbirth. It is a call to action for policymakers, healthcare providers, and communities to prioritize maternal health and ensure that every mother has the resources she needs to thrive.
Despite significant progress in recent decades, maternal health challenges persist. In the United States, for instance, Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women. Indigenous women also face disproportionately high rates of maternal mortality. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), globally, approximately 287,000 women die each year due to complications related to pregnancy and childbirth (World Health Organization, 2023).
At 42 Days Coffee, we are committed to investing in maternal health. Healthy mothers are the backbone of healthy societies. By focusing on maternal health, we are not just saving lives—we are building a better future for all.
